Hello.
I'm Bettina Ferrando (BJF Branding ABN 51 221 985 699), owner of Booze Your Words. I help write the words that can be a struggle for you, including things like a Privacy Policy...
Privacy is a responsibility I take seriously
Your privacy is a serious matter to you so it is a serious matter to me too. This privacy policy is for you to understand how your personal information is collected and possibly used. If you have any additional questions or require more information, do not hesitate to contact me.
I voluntarily choose to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988.
Consent
By using our website, you hereby consent to this privacy policy and agree to its terms.
What information do you collect?
When you look at this website, our Internet Service Provider (ISP) automatically makes a record and logs the following information for statistical purposes:
- your server address
- your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, etc)
- the date and time of your visit to the site
- the pages you accessed and documents downloaded
- the previous site you have visited
- the type of browser you are using
There are times that we collect your personal information directly, but only with your consent. You don’t have to give me your personal info, but if you don’t, I might not be able to help you with the services you are looking for (remember I am trying to help not be an information hoarding weirdo...)
How is the information used?
It's used in a variety of ways including:
- Operate and maintain the website
- Improve, personalise, and expand the website
- Understand how you use the website
- Develop new products, services, features, and functionality
- Send you emails and give you updates and hopefully useful information
- Find and prevent fraud (hope this is never necessary but always good to be aware...)
What about the cookies (not the yummy kind...) and web beacons?
Like any other website, Booze Your Words uses 'cookies', small text files that never have chocolate chips in them... These cookies are used to store information including your preferences, and the pages on the website that you visited. The intent behind this is for good not bad. I hope to improve your experience on my site, by understanding your activity better.
But if you don't like this idea, you can choose to configure your browser settings not to accept cookies, by following this.
There is also another thing called 'web beacons', again small pieces of code placed in a web page or email to gather information on visitors or readers behaviours. Google Analytics is one of these beacons, used by many, including me, to collect and process data.
Google has a lot of information if you're interested in going down that rabbit hole. Information about how Google collects and uses data is right here
And if you'd prefer to opt-out of your data being collected by Google Analytics, here is an add-on for your browser.
Can I opt out?
You sure can. Just sent me an email and you'll be promptly removed from my email list. And as explained in the answer above, you can also opt out of Google collection.
Do you collect information on children?
This is a huge no, not knowingly anyway. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, I strongly encourage you to contact me immediately and I will do my best to promptly remove such information.
Do you disclose my information to anyone else?
No. I will never sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. Occasionally I may use third party service providers, like my partner designer, to help run the business and the site and provide you with the best service possible but this will not go beyond the limited purposes that you have given me permission for.
Certain disclosures are required by law.
I may be legally required to disclose your personal information. If required to do so by law or subpoena or if I believe that such action is necessary to (a) conform to the law or comply with legal process served on me; (b) protect and defend my rights and property, my site, the users of my site; or (c) act under circumstances to protect the safety of users of my site, me, or third parties. Otherwise I won't.
What about other websites linked to this site?
I can't take responsibility for them, but I will do my utmost to ensure I only link to sites that I believe are doing the right thing by people. But in the end, I still have to let you know that I can't be held responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from my site nor the information or content contained therein. Please remember that when you use a link to go from my site to another website, my Privacy Policy is no longer in effect. Your browsing and interaction on any other website, including sites which have a link on my site, is subject to that website’s own rules and policies. Please read over those rules and policies before proceeding.
In the end, I respect your privacy to the best I can.
I know there is a lot of information above, but I hope it doesn't scare you off. I am a reasonable person and just want to help as many people write words as possible. Just know that in this digital world, data collection is common. I will always have your best interests at heart, but by using this site you are consenting to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. And with full openness and honesty, if I change any of the privacy policies and procedures, I will post those changes on this site to keep you aware and up-to-date.
There is no doubt that privacy is important, so respect it and others and above all, take care of yourself and those around you.
